Woods Hole

Woods Hole?

Woods Hole is one of the most beautiful places on earth—a tiny village, surrounded by water on all sides. It is well known to scientists and oceanographers for its institutions, to tourists for its ferry to Martha's Vineyard, and to boat captains for its treacherous channels that frequently land yachts on the rocks!

Jonathan's parents met here and fell in love while doing research at the Marine Biological Labs. Until Jonathan finished college, he spent every summer in Woods Hole and had numerous adventures here—often with his friend Arthur (best man).

In 2005, Megan came to Woods Hole to visit Jonathan. Some of their fondest memories together are from that trip, including their first kiss. The two of them returned to Woods Hole together several times and in 2012 decided it was where they wanted to get married!

Getting Here

The easiest way to get to Woods Hole is to fly to Boston Logan Airport (BOS). There is direct bus service via the Peter Pan Bus from the terminals at Boston Logan to the ferry dock in Woods Hole. Check schedules and buy tickets in advance at peterpanbus.com. Choose from BOSTON LOGAN AIRPORT, MA (not BOSTON, MA) to WOODS HOLE, MA.

If you prefer a smaller airport, you can fly to TF Green Airport (PVD) in Providence, RI. You can rent a car at either airport and drive to Woods Hole.

As mentioned above, the hotels in Woods Hole are ideal as they are within walking distance of the wedding, many restaurants, and the Vineyard ferry.

Falmouth has a range of options listed in the map below (websites and phone numbers are provided). If you book a hotel in Falmouth, you will either need to drive, bike, or take the "Woosh Trolley" to get to Woods Hole.

Parking

The main option for parking in the village of Woods Hole is metered street parking. Some areas, especially beaches (Nobska beach, Stoney beach), require a permit that is only available to residents. You may find it easier to walk rather than drive to the beach.

For parking at the wedding itself, see the Wedding Page.

Bike Path

The Shining Sea Bikeway runs from Woods Hole village to North Falmouth, a total of 10.7 miles past many beautiful views of the ocean. You may enjoy renting a bike and riding the path. You could even ride your bike to the wedding, since the bike path runs right by Olcottage!
